CBSE makes setting up of Composite Skill Labs in CBSE Schools mandatory

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), CBSE vide circular No skills -75 dated 23/8.2024, has mandated the establishment of 'Composite Skill Labs' in schools. These labs aim to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills for students in classes VI to XII.

Schools can either set up a single Composite Skill Lab of 600 sq. ft. or two separate labs of 400 sq. ft. each. This initiative is crucial for equipping students with industry-aligned skills, enhancing their employability, and fostering entrepreneurial capabilities.

For newly affiliated schools, these labs are mandatory, while existing CBSE-affiliated schools have a three-year deadline to establish them. The labs are designed to support hands-on learning experiences, empowering students to explore diverse career pathways.

Further details, including necessary materials for teaching various skill subjects, will be available on the CBSE website soon. This step marks a significant move towards making skill education an integral part of the curriculum. Onkar Singh Shekhawat
